About this role

We're looking for a Solutions Engineer who brings three things: genuine technical curiosity with the initiative to act on it, the confidence to own a customer relationship end-to-end, and the operational discipline to never let things fall through the cracks.

When a customer issue needs real solutioning — not a canned answer — you're the one who steps in: diagnosing the root cause, finding the right fix even if it's not the obvious one, and driving it to resolution, whether that means writing a doc, filing a bug, or flagging a product gap.

You'll also turn that same instinct inward, building the internal tools and AI-powered workflows the team runs on. The hats change day to day, spanning pre- and post-sales solutioning, advanced technical support, and internal tooling; what stays constant is that you make customers' and teammates' lives easier.

What you'll do

  • Identify patterns across customers and translate them into crisp product feedback

  • Triage and investigate bugs alongside Engineering — write coherent steps to reproduce, identify workarounds, and keep stakeholders updated

  • Pick up the phone when a situation calls for it to provide one on one support — solving problems live with founders, bookkeepers, and CFOs

  • Build internal apps and tools using AI to speed up internal processes and workflows

What we're looking for

Customer communication

  • You own customer relationships, not just responses — comfortable, clear, and personable across email, chat, and phone

  • High energy and genuinely enjoy people — customers come away from a conversation with you feeling better than when it started

  • Detail-oriented in practice — you track open items, follow through, and close loops

Problem solving

  • Sharp pattern recognition: you notice when three customers hit the same wall and know whether it's a docs problem, a UX problem, or a product gap

  • First line of defense on escalated technical issues — creative when a problem calls for it, disciplined enough to know when it doesn't

  • Resourceful with tools — you'll find or build a way to solve a problem rather than wait for someone else to

Technical aptitude

  • Technical enough to investigate an integration issue, understand SQL/data, or wire together an automation without pulling in engineering

  • You use AI tools to make yourself meaningfully faster — diagnosing engineering problems, gathering context across systems, and framing potential solutions engineers can act on

  • Able to ship meaningful contributions to internal apps and tools, such as operations-enhancing admin applications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, technical field preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience

  • 1–4 years in a customer-facing technical role — Solutions Engineer, Technical Account Manager, Support Engineer, or similar

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Bonus: you’ve worked around payments or finance ops - you understand how money moves and gets reconciled; at minimum, a genuine interest in business or personal finances

You'll thrive at Highbeam if...

  • You love working in-person with a high-performing team

  • You enjoy working in an idea-meritocratic, low-ego environment

  • You are proactive and self-directed, and you excel in ambiguous, fast moving environments

  • You care about delivering a polished customer experience

  • Bonus: You have experience working in fintech, AI or early-stage startups

What we offer

  • Chance to join the founding team of a well-funded startup chasing a huge opportunity

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity

  • Great location: Our NYC office is in NoHo, a short walk from the A,C,E · B,D,F,M · N,Q,R,W · 1 · 6 trains. Our Toronto office is downtown near St. Andrew Station.

  • Generous PTO

  • Comprehensive health & benefits package

  • Stipends for lunch, commute, wellness, and purchasing customer products

  • Yearly offsite—last year we went to Mexico City!
