Level: Director. Reports to: CTO. What’s the role: Lead strategy, people, delivery, and operations as Estuary formalizes Platform vs. Applications across the stack. Peer to Head of Platform Engineering. What you’ll do: - Optimize project delivery across customers, partners, marketing, operations, and long-term vision. - Maintain SLOs and manage issue triage/response, safeguarding a "fix bugs first" culture. - Establish engineering management culture; organize the Applications team; hire for scale. - Partner with founders and cross-functional leads on roadmap, scope, commitments, sequencing, and risks. - Drive operational excellence and quality standards; improve dev process/experience. - Own the engineering hiring engine (sourcing, interviewing, scoring, onboarding). - Be a player‑coach: review designs, build prototypes, occasionally contribute code. Qualifications: 8–12+ years platform engineering, 3–5+ years leading teams, hiring/leveling senior ICs/leads, incident response leadership, excellent communication, data-intensive applications experience.
